Laboratory testing providers

Clinics and platforms advertising diagnostic and monitoring panels, whether as a standalone service or as the entry point to a treatment programme.

201 organisationsProvider-published informationInclusion is not a recommendation

Laboratory testing appears in this directory in two quite different roles, and telling them apart is most of what this page is for. In the first, testing is diagnostic: it is ordered to answer a question, interpreted by a clinician, and repeated to assess response. In the second, it is an acquisition step — a broad panel that generates findings, most of which will be mildly out of range, which are then presented as the rationale for a programme.

Both are described using the same vocabulary. Comprehensive, advanced and functional are marketing words rather than technical ones, and a larger panel is not a better one. Breadth increases the chance of an incidental abnormal result, which is a statistical property of testing many things at once rather than a discovery about you.

The useful questions are about what happens around the test. Who ordered it and on what basis. Which laboratory ran it, and whether that laboratory is accredited. Whether a clinician licensed in your state reviews the result with you. Whether the reference ranges being applied are the laboratory's own or a range the clinic has chosen, which matters a great deal when a result is described as suboptimal rather than abnormal.

Testing sold alongside peptide programmes deserves the same scrutiny as the peptides. A panel that cannot produce a result which would rule out the treatment is not being used to make a decision. Asking which finding would make you ineligible is a fast way to establish which role the testing plays.

The directory records which organisations advertise laboratory services and what they publish about them. Results, ranges and interpretation are clinical matters, and nothing here substitutes for a clinician who can read your results in the context of your history.

Direct-to-consumer testing without a clinical relationship is a distinct offering that appears in this category, and it has real uses: monitoring a known condition between appointments, or establishing a baseline before a supervised programme. Its weakness is interpretation. A result outside a reference range is a prompt for clinical judgement, not a diagnosis, and a platform that returns a report with product recommendations attached has replaced judgement with a funnel.

Functional or specialty panels warrant their own scrutiny. Some measure analytes with well-characterised clinical meaning; others measure things whose relationship to symptoms is not established, using methods that are not standardised between laboratories. That does not make them worthless, but it does mean an abnormal result may not be reproducible and may not correspond to anything treatable. Ask whether a result would be expected to replicate if the same sample were run twice.

Testing is also the point where a programme's incentives are most visible. If the panel is bundled into a treatment programme, whoever ordered it benefits from a finding that supports treatment. That does not make the results wrong, but it is a reason to ask what proportion of patients are found to need the programme after testing. A clinic that tests a hundred people and recommends treatment to all of them is not using the test to decide anything.

A final practical note. Keep your own copies of every result, with dates and the laboratory named. Platforms change, clinics close, and portals are withdrawn, and a result you cannot produce is a result you will end up paying to repeat. It also lets a future clinician see a trend rather than a single point, which is very often the difference between a result that means something and one that does not. Ask for the full report rather than a summary or a dashboard view: reference ranges, units and the assay method matter when results from different laboratories are compared later, and a distilled wellness score discards exactly the detail a clinician would want.

Regulatory status

Laboratory testing is regulated separately from the treatments it may lead to. An accredited laboratory producing a valid result tells you nothing about whether a product subsequently recommended is approved, eligible to compound, or appropriate. Keep the two questions apart: the quality of a measurement and the standing of a treatment are unrelated.

What to establish first

Five things worth settling before a consultation. None of them require clinical knowledge to ask.

  1. 1Which laboratory performs the analysis, and whether it is accredited.
  2. 2Whether a clinician licensed in your state orders and interprets the panel.
  3. 3Whether the reference ranges are the laboratory's or ranges the clinic has selected.
  4. 4Which specific result would rule out the treatment being proposed.
  5. 5Whether repeat testing is included, at what interval, and at what cost.

Cost

We do not publish a price range for this category. The directory records prices only where a named provider publishes one and we have checked it on a stated date, and no provider on this page currently meets that bar. A composite range assembled from marketing pages would look authoritative and mean very little — ask each clinic directly what the programme costs after any introductory period, and what is excluded.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is a larger panel more thorough?

Not inherently. Testing more analytes raises the chance of an incidental result outside the reference range, which reflects the statistics of broad testing rather than a finding about you. What matters is whether results change the plan.

What does 'optimal range' mean on a report?

Usually that the clinic is applying a narrower range than the laboratory's reference interval. That may be clinically reasonable, but it is a choice the clinic has made rather than a property of the test. Ask whose range is being applied and what it is based on.

Does appearing in this category mean a provider is recommended?

No. A provider appears here because its own public materials advertise services in this category. The directory records and dates what a provider publishes; it does not rank clinical quality, and inclusion is not an endorsement.

Are the treatments in this category FDA-approved?

That depends entirely on the specific product, not the category. Approval is product-specific: a given drug is approved for a given indication, route and population. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved and do not undergo premarket review for safety, effectiveness or quality. Check the exact product in Drugs@FDA rather than reasoning from the category name.

Why do some listings show no verification badge?

Verification labels describe narrow, dated checks — that an organisation exists, that a named clinician holds an active licence at the time of checking. A profile without one has not had that check completed, which is not the same as failing it. The verification framework page defines each label.
